When I visit somewhere, I generally try not to shop as in days of old. There was a time when I felt it my sacred duty as a tourist to leave as much of my money and credit as possible in the local economy I was visiting. I’m a little less consumption oriented in my middle age, but I’ll buy coffee if there’s a local roaster around.

In Frankfurt, that local roaster is Brühmarkt. I went there with my aunt in April. Their coffee is delicious; the atmosphere in the cafe is lovely and calming. The location right off Willy Brandt Platz at 1, Leipziger Strasse is easy to find and get to. And I went back this weekend, too.

My favorite coffee of theirs is “Der Reweivel”. It is a morning wake-up in a cup. The bags are a bright orange which also contributes to the happy morning feeling. For my one cup a day (which admittedly is a 3 shot latte), it is such a lovely gift to myself.
